Abstract
Abstract Directive speech acts are speech acts that have the potential to represent the function of politeness in their speech. The illocutionary power used requires the listener to do something intended by the speaker. The aims of this research are, (1) to describe the form of directive speech act in Mata Najwa program, (2) to describe the function of directive speech act in Mata Najwa program. The results of this study are that there are 6 forms of directive speech acts in the Mata Najwa program, namely (1) orders, (2) requests, (3) invitations, (4) advice, (5) criticism, and (6) prohibitions. The function of directive speech acts in Mata Najwa Episode of Criticism Without Intrigue includes: the form of command with the function of ordering has 11 data, commanding has 10 data. The request form with the requesting function contains 15 data and requests there are 5 speech data. The invitation form with the invite function contains 3 data. The form of advice with the function of advising contains 5 speech data, suggests there is 1 speech data, suggests there are 4 data, reminds there are 14 data, and directs there are 14 data. The form of criticism with a satirical function contains 12 data, and there are 14 data for reprimand. The form of criticism with a satirical function contains 12 data, there are 14 data for reprimand, 11 data for angry, and 2 data for threatening. The form of prohibition with the function of prohibiting 1 data and preventing 1 data. The results of the study can be implied as teaching materials in Indonesian language learning in SMP/MTs, namely at KD 3.9 and KD 4.9 in grade IX. Directive speech acts in Indonesian language learning for class IX SMP/MTs can be used by teachers and students as knowledge enhancers and benchmarks in communicating with each other by paying attention to the context when speaking.
