Abstract

This study aims to describe and identify the types of registers and types of meaning of registers used in Gina Shkeda's Youtube Channel related to the increasing interest of women in the world of make-up. This research uses qualitative descriptive research and content analysis research design while in collecting data, researchers used observation and documentation techniques by performing several steps, such as: (1) observing all videos on Gina Shkeda's Youtube Channel, (2) writing all registers found, (3) classifying types and types of meaning of register, (4) then analyzing the data. The researcher analyzed data from the theoretical perspective of Martin Joos (1967) for types of register and Dell Hymes (1972) for types of meanings of register. The results of this research indicate that there are 20 registers found in Gina Shkeda's Youtube Channel related to the five types of registers and seven types of meaning of registers. The results of this study indicate that there are 2 types of registers found, namely the consultative registers (30%) and the casual registers (70%). In addition, this study also found 2 types of registers meanings, namely affective meaning (20%) and social meaning (80%). The dominant number of the type of registers found was casual register, namely 14 (70%), while the dominant number of the type of registers meaning found was social meaning, namely 16 (80%).
