Abstract
As a puberty age group, a girl often suffers lack nutritional intake, which is generally found in vegetables. She must maintain good nutrition by eating vegetables that contain vitamin E and iron because they are needed during menstruation to avoid dysmenorrhea. This study aimed to determine the correlation between the level of vegetable consumption and the incidence of dysmenorrhea during menstruation in female students at MA PPMI Assalaam Surakarta. This type of research was cross sectional with descriptive analysis. A total of 50 young women were selected as samples by means of simple random sampling. Vegetable consumption level data was obtained through filling in FFQ form in the last 1 month, while data on the incidence of dysmenorrhea was obtained through filling in the Face Pain Scale form. The majority of respondents in this study, as many as 31 people (62%), were included in the low category in vegetable consumption. The majority of respondents did not like spinach, kenikir, oyster mushrooms, eggplant, papaya leaves, and melinjo leaves. A total of 30 respondents (60%) stated that they consumed vegetables only once a week. Most of the respondents in this study, as many as 25 people (50%), were included in the category of severe pain when dysmenorrhea. The level of preference and frequency of vegetable consumption among female students at MA PPMI Assalaam Surakarta is known to be in the low category. It is recommended to increase the consumption of vegetables containing Fe and Vitamin E such as spinach because it can reduce the indications of having dysmenorrhea during menstruation which can interfere with activities. Keyword: level of preference, frequency, consumption of vegetables, dysmenorrhea.
