Abstract

The background in this research is knowing how the principal develops Arabic-based Islamic boarding schools. Pesantren which in their daily activities use Arabic from waking up to going to sleep again. Through this research, it is hoped that it can develop into an Arabic-based Islamic boarding school that is recognized by foreign countries. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the principal's innovation in developing Arabic-based Islamic boarding schools and what are the obstacles in developing Arabic-based Islamic boarding schools. The purpose of this study is to explain the efforts of the principal in developing Arabic-based Islamic boarding schools and the causes of obstacles in developing Arabic-based Islamic boarding schools. This study uses a type of field research at Islamic Boarding School Al-Irsyad Tengaran. This type of research is a phenomenological qualitative approach, the subjects in this study are the principal, teachers and students and the object of this research is the principal's leadership in developing Arabic-based Islamic boarding schools. Methods of data collection in this study were carried out by means of interviews, observation, documentation and data analysis by means of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the principal's innovation in developing Arabic-based Islamic boarding schools is by updating both ideas and ideas in order to achieve a goal. Leadership can be interpreted as a proces of one’s activities to influence, move and coordinate individuals or groups to realize cooperative relationships in an effort to achieve predetermined goals. Then the obstacles of the principal in developing Arabic-based Islamic boarding schools are the factors of teachers and school principals, student factors and infrastructure factors. Regarding the teacher and principal factor, the teacher's function is central in the education process, especially at school. However, the reality is that the position of teachers is still shrouded by many problems, such as professionalism and income security. Then the factor in their learning activities is lacking. Cannot manage study time properly so that motivation to learn from within is lacking. Factors of facilities and infrastructure Complete or not will affect student learning outcomes. The more complete the meal, the more it will improve student achievement if the infrastructure is utilized optimally. Likewise.
