Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of self-defense mechanisms and religiosity on the confession of dishonesty. The type of research used is quantitative research with a research design using a survey. The population in this reasearch were students in the fourth semester of Accounting Education FKIP UMS, amounting to 150 students, taking a sample of 109 students. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling technique, with the selection of free samples and data collection using the questionnaire method (questionnaire) by distributing questionnaires with several questions to respondents to be answered. The analysis technique used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis, t-test, F-test, coefficient of determination, effective contribution and relative contribution. The results of this study indicate that the self-defense mechanism has a significant positive effect on the recognition of academic dishonesty of UMS Accounting Education students by 26.5% and religiosity has a significant positive effect on the recognition of academic dishonesty of UMS Accounting Education students of 19.1% with a coefficient of determination of 45.6%. which means that the independent variable affects the dependent variable by 45.6% and the remaining 54.4% is influenced by other variables.
