Abstract
Hypertension is a condition where the systolic blood pressure is 140 mmHg and the diastolic blood pressure is above 90 mmHg. The impact of uncontrolled blood pressure can increase the risk of ischemic heart disease fourfold and the risk of cardiovascular damage two to three times. Some of the factors that can affect the blood pressure values below are diet behavior and physical activity. Dietary factors are important for hypertension sufferers. Patient with hypertension should follow a healthy diet so that blood pressure can be controlled. Lack of physical activity also causes the blood vessels in the body to be less elastic so that blood pressure can rise. The purpose of this study was to see the relationship between diet behavior and the level of physical activity with the value of blood pressure in hypertensive patients at Baki Public Health Center, Sukoharjo Regency. This type of research is quantitative, descriptive correlative research with a cross sectional approach. The study population was all 592 people with hypertension at Baki Sukoharjo Community Health Center, while the study sample was 86 respondents who were selected by accidental sampling technique. Collecting research data using a questionnaire and data analysis using the Wilcoxon test. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test obtained, the relationship between diet behavior and blood pressure values (p value = 0,564) and the relationship between physical activity and blood pressure values (p value = 0,001). The conclusion of this study is that there is no relationship between dietary behavior and blood pressure values in patients with hypertension at Baki Public Health Center, Sukoharjo Regency, and there is a relationship between physical activity and blood pressure values in patients with hypertension at Baki Health Center, Sukoharjo Regency.
