Abstract

Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) or often known as heart failure is one of the non-communicable diseases as the number one cause of death every year. Heart failure often does not appear on its own but is accompanied by comorbidities, including respiratory problems, renal dysfunction, anemia, cognitive impairment (cerebral dysfunction), depression, and arthritis. The cause of impaired cognitive function in heart failure patients is cerebral hypoperfusion which results in significant cerebral abnormalities and regional blood flow abnormalities. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the description of cognitive function in heart failure patients at RSU UNS Surakarta. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive analysis research methods, namely to summarize, classify, and present data. The sample in this study was 110 patients with heart failure who were undergoing outpatient care at the Outpatient Installation of the UNS Surakarta Hospital. The sampling technique uses Accidental Sampling. While the research instrument related to cognitive function was obtained through the Cognitive Appraisal of Health Scale (CAHS) questionnaire. The results of the data obtained by respondents who fall into the threat category are 58.2%, respondents who fall into the challenge category are 23.6%, respondents who fall into the hazard / detriment category are 18.2%. So it can be concluded that the majority of patients undergoing outpatient care at the Outpatient Installation of the UNS Surakarta Hospital fall into the threat category.
