Abstract
Background: In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic like today, find false information or hoaxes on social media that reject the COVID-19 pandemic and health. In the news of a hoax, the amygdala, the center of anxiety in the brain, responds by over-activating the autonomic nervous system. As a result, psychosomatic symptoms appear, heart rate and blood pressure increase, creating pain in the chest. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effect of HOAX information on the community level during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: The method used to measure the level of a person in this study using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A). Results: Using a sample of 102 respondents in the city of Surakarta with an age range of 18-35 years in the Kelurahan Laweyan, Kemlayan, Kepatihan Wetan, and Sriwedari with a population of 3360 people. The sum of the scores of the HAM-A questionnaire that had severe disorders was as many as 10 people and those who had no problems were 44 people. Of the 66 female respondents who experienced severe disorders, 7 respondents. And those who experienced severe disorders in male respondents were 3 people. Conclusion: This hoax information can affect the community level. The more hoax information about COVID 19, the higher the level of public news.
