Abstract
The problems faced by freshwater fish cultivation are in terms of meeting the production needs of freshwater fish such as the problem of increasing feed prices, the absence of a cooperative, which causes farmers to sell their produce to middlemen at low prices and water quality based on topography. So this research aims to determine 1.) Characteristics of freshwater fish cultivators in Janti Village and Jimus Village, Polanharjo District, Klaten Regency in 2020. 2.) Factors that influence freshwater fish production that encourage the growth of freshwater fish cultivation in Janti Village and Desa Janti Village. Jimus Polanharjo District, Klaten Regency, 2020. 3.) The continuity of freshwater fish farming in Janti Village and Jimus Village, Polanharjo District, Klaten Regency in 2020. The method used in this research is a survey method. This research was conducted with members of fish cultivators in Janti Village and Jimus Village as a population. The total population was 119 cultivators, consisting of the Jimus village of 108 cultivators and the Janti village of 11 cultivators. The determination of sempel members in this study used the census method. The results of this study are 1.) The results obtained from this study are the characteristics of these cultivators can be identified based on male gender (80%), age 46-60 years (23%), family dependents 2-3 dependents (40 %), high school education level (60.2%), type of work of fish cultivators (59.2%), types of tilapia (57.5%), number of ponds 1-3 (63.6%), pond area 75- 183 m² (79.2%), own cultivation status (93.9%) and cultivation period 3-9 years (61%). 2) factors that influence sustainability are low capital Rp.1,000,000- Rp.12,700,000 (70.5%), low labor 1 (80.6%), low raw materials 8000-32,000 seeds (60.4%), low maintenance 90-360 kg (54.1%) and low income Rp.1,000,000- Rp.3,300,000 (63.6%). 3) This study classifies 3 levels of continuity, namely low, medium and high, in terms of the parameters of capital, labor, raw materials, maintenance, and income. Janti Village and Jimus Village are included in the low level. In Desa Janti, the survival rate was low with a percentage of 55.32%, while in Jimus village it was low with a percentage of 74.36%. However, Janti Village is supported by a larger number of cultivators than in Jimus Village. With 108 cultivators in Jimus Village and 11 in Janti Village, the difference in the number of cultivators is because the Jimus area has less supportive areas.
