Abstract

Foreign debt in Indonesia continues to increase every year. This has been a huge burden for the Indonesian state. This study aims to analyze the influence of macroeconomic policy on foreign debt in Indonesia. This study used partial adjustment model (PAM) regression analysis. The results showed that the variable foreign exchange reserves and BI Rate had a significant impact on foreign debt in Indonesia, while the variable budget deficit, current account balance, and exchange rate did not have a significant impact on foreign debt in Indonesia. The coefficient of determination of 0.992396 which means 99.24% variation in foreign debt variables in Indonesia can be explained by variable budget deficit, foreign exchange reserves, current account balance, exchange rate, and BI Rate, the remaining 0.76% is explained by other free variables that are not included in the model or other variables outside this study.
