Abstract
Tinder is one of the popular matchmaking apps. The development of technology and information, especially on Tinder, encourages minority homosexuals to be open about their identity and sexual orientation in romantic relationships in the environment. This makes researchers interested in knowing how homosexual strategies do self-presentation by using Tinder social media to start a romantic relationship in the city of Surakarta.The research method used is Qualitative Phenomenology where data collection is obtained from semi-structured interviews. The theories used in this study are Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) theory and Impression Management. The informant criteria in this study are Tinder social media users who have a homosexual orientation until now. The results showed that there are several stages that they do to be able to have romantic relationships using tinder social media, the first is the selection of social media platform Tinder because it is easy to use and easy to get a partner with the same sex orientation. The second stage is profiling a Tinder account where the informant will make it as interesting as possible in order to find a partner with the same background. Then the third stage is to start communication by talking about everyday things and continue to the fourth stage, namely the feedback from the couple in the form of a face-to-face meeting. The achievement of romantic relationships obtained through Tinder social media on all three informants is to get the desired partner in an easy and effective way. But in the course of the informant understands that the choice of life to make homosexuals is a violation of the rules of religion.
