Abstract
One of the health problems in Indonesia is the unsuccessful coverage of exclusive breastfeeding. Exclusive breastfeeding coverage can be increased with good planning, especially for groups of unmarried women. This plan will depend on the perception of the mother-to-be itself. The earlier the preparation of the prospective mother to plan exclusive breastfeeding, the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in the future can be realized. This study aims to analyze the relationship between perceived barriers and plans for exclusive breastfeeding in students of the Public Health Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This type of research is analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. Sampling using proportional random sampling technique, with a total sample of 187 students of Public Health UMS. The statistical test of this study used the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between perceived barriers and plans for exclusive breastfeeding among students of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta Public Health Study Program (p = <0.001). It can be concluded that the perception of obstacles is related to the plan of exclusive breastfeeding for students of Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta.
