Abstract

This research is study about an analyzing of translation technique in “The Walking Dead” Comic by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore. The objectives of this research are: (1) to classify he translation techniques were used by the translator in translating The Walking Dead Comic. (2) to describe the accuracy translation that appeared in The Walking Dead Comic. The data of this research are words which contain the taboo words or censored in The Walking Dead comic. The data source is the document taken from comic entitled The Walking Dead.The data collection was done by using documentation which are reading the comic, identifying the data, underlying and making codes the censored words. To get the validity of this research the researcher uses triangulation. The data are analyzed by using translation technique which were classified by Molina and Albir (2002), Then the data be analyzed how the translation accuracy with a theory written by Larson (1998). The data were analyzed through some steps, those were classifying the censored words, analyzing the meaning of that words, interpreting and drawing conclusion. The results of this research showed that: (1). The most common translation techniques found in comic The Walking Dead are linguistic compression techniques, reduction techniques, generalization techniques, established the equivalent, particularization techniques, variation techniques, modulation techniques and linguistic amplification techniques. (2) the result of the analysis of translation accuracy in The Walking Dead Comic, the researcher found out that most of the translations are accurate.
