Abstract
This research aims to describe the economic activities and benefits that is received by the community. This research is a qualitative ethnographic design. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation with data analysis techniques in the site. The data validity technique used the source and technique triangulation. The results showed that: 1) Economic activity consists of two stages, namely the tourism development and improving operational facilities and services. 2) The economic benefits obtained are encouraging the economy of rural communities through entrepreneurial activities seen from the increase in the number of visitors each year. Community income obtained from selling at canteen around Umbul Ponggok that can be used to meet family needs, education costs and health costs, and help to build infrastructure in the tourist area of Umbul Ponggok, Klaten Regency.
