Abstract
Consumer culture, a consumption pattern of popular culture in society can create subcultures in that place. An otaku, part of the sub-culture, is someone who has an interest in Japanese subcultures, especially for people who like anime, manga, cosplay, action figures, and games. Parasocial interaction is an interaction that occurs between an individual and their idol or other character. This happens because through a process where they see and feel what these characters have done in the media, which creates interest and feelings of liking for these characters. This can be seen through three aspects a. Intense Personal Feeling b. Entertainment Social c. Pathological Behavior. Intra-personal communication with oneself that creates an understanding of a condition as personal information, with dialectics helps understand how that understanding occurs. This study used a qualitative descriptive method, with a population of students in Surakarta with the criteria of being an otaku. the data collection method used is the interview method. Data validation using source triangulation, data analysis in this study is an interactive model data analysis. The results obtained from this study are, an otaku has a tendency to choose a human partner based on the character he prefers, the influence can be based on physical characteristics or appearance that they think are similar to the fictional character of his idol.
