Abstract
Based on the total population in Indonesia, which amounts to 272.1 million people, it can be estimated that 64% of the population of the Republic of Indonesia has accessed the internet. As many as 160 million Indonesians are active users of social media, especially Twitter. This study aims to determine and analyze the description of #BTSLoveMyself tweets that are trending topics on Twitter using discourse analysis. The theory used by researchers is the discourse theory developed by Teun A. Van Dijk. The research method used is qualitative, with a total sample of 100 tweet posts from the @bts_love_myself and @UNICEF account with a span of 3 months from the initial release of the #BTSLoveMyself campaign, namely November 2017, December 2017, and January 2018. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with data validity using triangulation of sources. The results of the study concluded that the theme taken was how to be more Love Self and eradicate child abuse in the world as conveyed by UNICEF & BTS. The meaning that is emphasized contains elements of persuasion, which aims to invite netizens to better understand the meaning of the word Love Myself.
