Abstract

Chronic renal failure is a disorder of decreased kidney function in which the body is unable to maintain metabolism and fluid and electrolyte balance. Patients with end-stage chronic renal failure are required to undergo renal replacement therapy, one of which is hemodialysis which results in various life changes that lead to a decrease in quality of life. Therefore, to minimize the decrease in quality of life in hemodialysis patients, self-efficacy is needed. This study aims to identify the relationship between self-efficacy and quality of life of hemodialysis patients in the hemodialysis room of the Sebelas Maret University Hospital, Surakarta. This research is a quantitative study using a cross-sectional approach. Sampling in this study using a total sampling technique with a sample size of 42 respondents and using the chi-square statistical test with a significance level of α <0.05. The results of statistical tests showed that from 42 respondents, 15 respondents had high self-efficacy and good quality of life, and 14 respondents had low self-efficacy and poor quality of life with a value of ρ = 0.031 (ρ <0.05) which means that there is a relationship between self-efficacy with quality of life in chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis.
