Abstract
Dysmenorrhea is defined as the presence of painful cramps originating from the uterus that occur during menstruation and is one of the most common causes of menstrual disorders. Primary dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain caused by uterine activity, without pathological abnormalities of the pelvis. Meanwhile, secondary dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain caused by gynecological disorders such as endometriosis. One of the efforts to overcome primary dysmenorrhea is muscle stretching exercises. Muscle stretching exercises are simple, safe and effective exercises performed by people with dysmenorrhea to maintain and develop flexibility or flexibility of the abdominal and pelvic muscles. Objective of this research to determine the effectiveness of muscle stretching exercises in reducing pain in dysmenorrhea. A literature review was conducted to identify all articles discussing muscle stretching exercises to reduce pain in dysmenorrhea. Database from google scholar, PEDro, pubmed, and science direct, with the type of randomized controlled trial research published in the last 10 years. The research was carried out by collecting, processing, and analyzing data systematically. Results of the 124 articles identified, 5 articles were used as the basis of the study according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, reviewed articles, adjusted for PICO and assessed by PEDro scale, showing the effectiveness of muscle stretching exercises in reducing pain in dysmenorrhea seen using a clinically minimal. important difference (MCID) with a result of more than 10 mm pain reduction Muscle stretching exercises are efficient and effective in reducing pain in people with dysmenorrhea. It is necessary to do further research related to the most suitable time to do muscle stretching exercises in people with dysmenorrhea.
