Abstract
Water is the source of life for all living things on earth. Water is an important factor in meeting the vital needs of living things, including drinking water or other household needs. Several regions in Indonesia often experience clean water crisis, one of which is in Karanggede Village, Boyolali. Most of the people there have not been reached by urban clean water network services, so when there is a shortage of clean water, they have to spend more money to buy clean water. There are many ways that can be used to get clean water, especially rainwater, and one of the simplest ways is to harvest rainwater using a simple filter system. This study aims to utilize rainwater and plan a storage system for housing units in Karanggede Village, Boyolali using a pumice stone filter. Rainwater samples from the roof were filtered in a simple reactor using a two-time filter method with the first filter using pumice stone and palm fiber with a thickness of 11 cm each and the second filter using pumice stone, pumice gravel, and 8 cm bricks each. The samples obtained were tested physically and chemically in the Chemical Engineering Laboratory of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta.Based on the results of laboratory tests using a pumice sieve, the results The rainwater filter in Karanggede Village, Boyolali is included in class B water, which means that the water can be used for raw / clean water but it is necessary with simple processing. Based on the results of the rainfall data, it can be calculated that the amount of rainwater harvested is 176 liters / day. From the results of the harvest it can be planned that the dimensions of the reservoir are 1 m x 1 m x 1 m.
