Abstract

Adjustment is a phenomenon that overseas students need in their new environment. The aim was to determine the relationship between cultural shock and self-disclosure with oneself among overseas students in Surakarta. Research subjects are active students who have migrated and are currently pursuing higher education in Surakarta. The number of respondents in this study may be 425 people. The research used purposive sampling technique with data aids, namely the scale of cultural shock, the scale of self-disclosure, and the scale of self. Data analysis using multiple regression. The results of data analysis showed a significance level of 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is a very significant relationship between the variables of cultural shock, self-disclosure and self, so that the researcher's hypothesis is proven. Based on the data analysis between the variable of cultural shock and self, it was found that the value (rxy) = ─ 0.503 with sig, p = 0.000 (p <0.05) which means that there is a negative relationship between cultural shock and oneself, the lower the culture shock, the higher self. The correlation between self-disclosure and self-disclosure is obtained by a coefficient value (rxy) = 0.519 with sig, p = 0.000 (p <0.05) which means that there is a 2 positive relationship between self-disclosure and self, the higher self-openness, the self-openness is high self.
