Abstract

Paving block is a building material product whose function is to close or harden a road so that the surface becomes flat and stable. Paving block has many variations in shape, color and quality. The compressive strength of conventional paving blocks in each research carried out aims to improve quality and quality, from this study it is expected to know the average compressive strength value of various variations in the addition of fly ash and rock ash of, 0%, 7.5%, 10 %, 12.5%, 15%. From the results of the Paving block compressive strength test, it is obtained that the average compressive strength with a variation of 0% of a mixture of fly ash and rock ash obtained an average compressive strength of 4.41 (MPa) for type I and 4.04 (MPa) for type II , in the second experimental stage with the addition of 7.5% fly ash and rock ash, an increase in the average compressive strength value was 9.13 (MPa) for type I and 10.38 (MPa) for type II. In the third experimental stage, with the addition of 10% fly ash and rock ash, it was obtained an increase in the average compressive strength value of 10.81 (MPa) for type I and 12.14 (MPa) for type II. In the fourth experimental stage, with the addition of 12.5% fly ash and rock ash, it was found that the average compressive strength value decreased by 8.68 (MPa) for type I and 15,12 (MPa) for type II. And in the last experimental stage with the iii addition of 15% fly ash and rock ash, it was found that the average compressive strength value was decreased by 7.02 (MPa) for type I and 9.45 (MPa) for type II. With an increase in the compressive strength value of 30%, this shows that there is an increase in the quality of the Paving block.
