Abstract

This research was based on the news about the demonstration in response to the rejection of the RKUHP and the KPK Bill in online media. This demonstration arose because the House of Representatives in the period 2014-2019 issued a revision of the Criminal Law Bill and the Draft Law of the Corruption Eradication Commission. The issue of demonstrations conducted by students in order to reject the revision of the RKUHP and the KPK Bill was simultaneously reported by all mass media in Indonesia. Kompas.com is a national news portal that passable many in preaching the events of this demonstration with a total of 74 news starting from September 19, 2019 to September 30, 2019. This study aims to find out the framing of news conducted by Kompas.com. This research uses qualitative descriptive approach with Robert Entman analysis method. In this study also used social movement theory or social movement theory and framing theory Entman. In this study it was found that Kompas.com to highlight the first issue of all students doing a demo action against the RKUHP and the KPK Bill. Both causes of this demo are due to controversial articles. All three members of the House of Representatives have agreed to discuss this bill at the plenary session so that this bill is immediately passed and makes the community obey the rules. Fourth President Joko Widodo responded to student aspirations by delaying RKUHP discussions and planning to issue a perppu for the kpk bill that has been passed.
