Abstract

This study aims to find out and describe: 1) Describe the difficulties of students to reading Al-Qur'an in 2018/2019 school year. 2) Describe the role of Mentoring Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan in overcoming the difficulties of students to reading Al-Qur'an in 2018/2019 school year. Type of this research is qualitative. Data collection in this study through interviews, observation, questionnaires and documentation. Whereas in analyzing data using the deductive method. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that 16.00% of respondents stated having difficulty in reading Al-Qur'an, 18.00% stated often, 22.00% stated sometimes, and 44.00% had never felt difficulty in reading Al-Qur'an. 34.00% of respondents said the method used by the Central Mentoring Coordinator was appropriate and efficient in helping students who have difficulty reading Al-Qur'an, 40.00% stated often, 24.00% stated sometimes, and 2.00% stated never. Due to the limited number of meetings between Mentoring Al - Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan. 32.00% of the mentor stated that they found every mentoring activity of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan had a turn to read Al-Qur'an, 2.00% stated often and 52.00% stated sometimes. 25.00% said they could read Al-Qur'an after attending Al-Islam Mentoring and Kemuhammadiyahan, 34.00% stated often, 36.00% stated sometimes, and 6.00% said they had never. Difficulties experienced by students to reading Al-Qur'an are as follows : 1) differentiating hijayyah letters because of similarity the letter shapes, 2) Shape of the letter ended, 3) haven't memorized harakat, 4) correct pronunciation for makhraj, 5) nothing motivation from themselves to be able to read Al-Qur'an, 6) Do not like learning to read Al-Qur'an, 7) Lack of religious education in family, 8) Association with friends who are not good. Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan Mentoring also has a pretty good role to helping students read Al-Qur'an, and one of the real programs of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan Mentoring is to make a Tahsin School aimed at making students able to improve their reading and learning to read Al-Qur'an. The Role of Mentoring Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan from the beginning has worked in accordance with its position in Islamic guidance for students through BTA, Tahsin, and Tahfidz. Mentoring Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan. The role of Mentoring is quite good for students in Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta where 60.00% of the total respondents obtained benefits and got lessons especially in learning to read Al-Qur'an after participating in Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan mentoring activities
