Abstract

The use of insecticides is very important for plant reproduction so that they are not disturbed by pests. Chemical insecticides have a bad impact on the environment and health, so alternative insecticides such as plant-based insecticides are needed. The skin of jengkol fruit (Pithecellobium lobatum benth), which in society is unused waste, contains compounds that can be used as a natural insecticide, namely saponins, alkaloids, terpenoids, tannins, flavonoids, and glycosides. This study tested the toxicity of the jengkol skin extract as a natural insecticide. The insecticide compounds in the jengkol skin was taken by the maceration extraction method using ethanol as a solvent. The results of the extract were tested on cricket test animals, with variations in soaking time 3 and 5 days and extract concentration (500, 1000, 2000, 4000) ppm. The test of the toxic value and effectiveness of the extract as a natural insecticide was carried out by using LD50 analysis. Soaking time of 3 and 5 days and concentrations of 2000-4000 ppm are known to have harmful toxic effects on pests.
