Abstract

Development activities and the rapid advancement of technology in various fields will continue to have negative impacts on the environment, namely in the form of pollution and environmental damage which will result in a decrease in environmental quality. This study aims to: (1) determine the application of the Adiwiyata school concept in SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta (2) determine the level of environmental awareness among students of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta. The population in this study were the Adiwiyata coordinator of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta, totaling 1.152 students. Sampling was determined using the Slovin formula, in order to obtain a sample of 297 students. Determination of the sample in this study was carried out randomly (proportional random sampling). The data sources used are primary data sources, namely data obtained directly from the object of research, and the second is secondary data, namely data obtained from Adiwiyata documentation and documents. Data collection techniques used were observation techniques, interviews, documentary study techniques and questionnaires. The analysis technique used in the first formula is a simple analysis technique using the Miles & Hubberman method which consists of three activities streams: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusion/verification and for the second formula using descriptive statistical techniques, it is used to analyze the questionnaire for the application of environmental care. The results showed that: (1) the form of the Adiwiyata program at SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta, including: (a) Environmental based school policies seen from the school’s vision and mission. (b) The environment based school curriculum includes integration in subjects. (c) Participatory based school policy seen from extracurricular activities. (d) Management of school supporting infrastructure such as biopori, infiltration wells, waste bank. (2) The environmental care attitude of students in SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta is classified as moderate, it is obtained by the low category (1,24%), the moderate category (83,16%), and the high category (15,60%).
