Abstract
Interpersonal communication is communication between people face-to-face which allows each participant to capture other people's reactions directly, both verbally and non-verbally. Interpersonal communication between fellow humans is an important communication in forming romantic relationships. In this study, researchers have explored information about how a person who is hearing impaired (deaf) and their hearing partner establish a romantic relationship. Researchers took the subject from the Movement Community for the Welfare of the Deaf Indonesia (GERKATIN) which is domiciled in Surakarta. This organization is engaged in the social and community sector which is intended as a forum for people who have physical disabilities. The method used is descriptive qualitative, using data collection techniques by means of interviews and documentation. Researchers used 4 sources consisting of 2 Gerkatin members and 2 listening pairs. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Then the validity used is source triangulation with interactive modl data analysis. The results of the study were divided into 4 areas according to the Johari Window (1) in the Open Self area, the researcher found that deaf couples were quite open with their partners but there were often errors in meaning when communicating. (2) In the Blind Self area, the hearing partner tends to be silent in order to avoid conflict rather than expressing their partner's Blind Self. (3) in the Hidden Self area, the majority of them hide about their family to their partners.
