Abstract
Along with the progress and rapid development of cities, the cultural and historical values contained therein tend to experience changes and shifts in values. This resulted in the emergence of the potential issue of gentrification which resulted in the loss of the existence of historic urban villages as well as ethnic villages that had existed since the beginning of a city. The tourism industry in Semarang City is getting more and more crowded along with the discovery of natural potential in the region. The existence of Marina Beach as a starting point for the emergence of settlements in the city of Semarang, currently has an inadequate existing condition with a wide natural potential. Semarang Cultural Center as a means of education and communal space located in the Marina Beach Area as a fulfillment of the need for a proper architectural space that can be used by all levels of society. In addition, the Semarang Cultural Center is expected to be a reflection for the government and the people of Semarang City in building and designing urban architectural spaces that have cultural characteristics and values that grow from the historical values that Semarang City has. In realizing the Semarang Cultural Center which is recreational and educational, the author uses the Biophillic Design approach which aims to build a connection between nature, humans and architecture.
