Abstract

Background: The corona virus disease pandemic has resulted in governments in various countries implementing national containment strategies in an effort to limit the spread of virus transmission. Physical activity in most of the population worldwide has probably decreased, as a result of this pandemic the number of people working from home or even not working, has increased. Government policy during the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in decreased physical activity leading to an increase in mental health deterioration. The purpose: of this study was to determine the relationship between physical activity and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in young adults. Methods: This study uses a questionnaire in data collection, which is distributed to final year students of the health science faculty of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, and obtained as many as 70 respondents. Results: This study showed no relationship between physical activity and mental health. The results of the significant value of the two variables were 0.621, and the correlation coefficient value was 0.060, both of these values indicated there was no correlation between the two variables.
