Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease caused by the pancreas not producing enough insulin, and it can cause the concentration of glucose in the blood to increase. One of the influences in controlling blood sugar levels is a regular diet. Patients must adhere to the diet to keep blood sugar levels under control. Purpose: to determine whether there is a relationship between dietary patterns and glycemic status in people with diabetes mellitus in the working area of Puskesmas Purwosari. Design: using quantitative descriptive with cross sectional approach. The sample of this study were diabetes mellitus sufferers in the Purwosari Health Center working area and met the inclusion criteria. Relationship data were processed using the chi-square test. Results: The results showed that 87.3% of respondents had an adequate diet and blood sugar levels were well controlled and were in the normoglycemia status, with a value of p = 0.002 <0.05. Conclusion: There is a relationship between diet pattern and glycemic status in diabetes mellitus sufferers in the working area of Puskesmas Purwosari, Surakarta.
