Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze how the trend of violating journalistic code of ethics in news about violence against children. This study was motivated by the prevalence of news about child abuse cases. This study used a quantitative content analysis method with a population and the sample of this study was 35 child abuse news published in Tribunnews in July to September 2019 using a saturated or sampling technique or total sampling technique because the population studied was relatively small. The validity test in this study uses content validity, and the reliability uses Cohen Kappa. Data analysis in this study used a single tabulation. Hypothesis testing used is univariate with Chi Square statistical techniques. The results in this study indicate that the Tribunnews violates the journalistic code of ethics in reporting violence against children. There are four violates, among others is violations in terms of making reports cruelly by 42%, violations in terms of providing vulgar chronology by 37%, violations in the identity of victims of immoral crimes by 11%, and violations in providing factual news by 3%.
