Abstract

This study aims to 1) analyze the symptoms of Katherine's psychopathy. 2) To explain the causes of psychopathy as reflected in Katherine in the Lady Macbeth film (2016). This study uses a psychoanalytic approach from Sigmund Freud. This research is included in qualitative research that focuses on analyzing the symptoms and causes of psychopathy in the main character. The data analysis technique is descriptive analysis. From this research, two findings can be initiated as an answer to the problem formulation. The first is the symptoms of Katherine's psychopathy. The author found six symptoms of Katherine's psychopathy, namely impulsive and poor behavior control, lack of empathy, lack of remorse and guilt, deceitful and manipulative, shallow emotions, and a lack of responsibility. The second result was that Katherine became a psychopath due to consideration of the id, ego, and superego
