Abstract

This research is entitled "Determinants of Budget Deficit and its impact on the Decrease in Investment (Crowding Out) in Indonesia in 1999-2019". The main objective of this study is to determine the effect of each independent variable, namely the SBI interest rate, inflation, and investment on the dependent variable, namely the budget deficit, and whether there is an impact of the budget deficit on reducing investment in Indonesia. This study uses quantitative secondary data in time series from 1999-2019 obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and the Central Government Financial Report (LKPP). The analytical tool used is the OLS (Ordinary Least Square) method with the Error Correction Model (ECM) model. The results showed that SBI interest rates in the short and long term did not have a significant effect on the budget deficit, inflation in the short term did not have a significant effect, but in the long term had a negative and significant effect. Meanwhile, short-term investment has a positive and significant effect on the budget deficit, but it has no effect in the long term. The impact of the budget deficit on investment has a significant effect in the short term but has no effect in the long term, the impact is also not found Crowding Out.
