Abstract
This study aims to determine which sectors are included in the leading / non-superior sectors in Karanganyar Regency in 2014-2018, and which sectors are competitive in the economic growth of Karanganyar Regency. To find out the classification results of which sectors are advanced and fast developing in Karanganyar Regency in 2014-2018 using Klassen Typology analysis, while to determine the leading and non-superior sectors using Location Quotient (LQ) and Shift Share analysis. The results of research using LQ show that the electricity & gas procurement sector and the manufacturing sector are among the leading sectors in Karanganyar Regency. Then the results of Klassen's typology analysis show that the manufacturing sector is an advanced and fast-growing sector, while the agricultural sector is an advanced but depressed sector. Furthermore, the results of the Shift Share analysis show that those that have competitive advantages / competitiveness in the economy in Karanganyar Regency are the manufacturing sector, the construction sector, the wholesale & retail trade sector, the agricultural sector, the corporate services sector, the electricity & gas procurement sector, and the water supply sector. Based on this research, the suggestion that can be conveyed is that the Karanganyar Regency Government needs to establish a development policy with priority sector / sector basis without neglecting non-base sectors. This is aimed at increasing regional economic growth as measured by the level of PDRB acceptance of Karanganyar Regency and the level of Central Java Province. Keywords: Leading Sector, GRDP, Location Quotients (LQ), Klassen Typology, and Shift Share
