Abstract
The purposes of this research are : 1) to determine the correlation of religiosity and self-adjustment, 2) to know the difference of self-adjustment reviewed from gender, and 3) to know the difference in the effect of gender on religiosity with self-adjustment, and 4) to know the categorization of each variable. The population in this research is the college students of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta entry year 2019 amounting to 9.344 students and taken a sample of 368 students. Sampling technique using purposive non random sampling with purposive sampling procedure. The research method uses a quantitative approach, with the method of Likert model data collection, the data collection tools using religiosity scale (43 items; α = 0.897) and the self-adjustment scale (45 items; α = 0.877. The validity test for the third scale uses MS. Excel with the formula Aiken = Ʃ S/[N (C-1)], the scale criteria used if the calculated result of the scale is ≥ 0.6 then it is said to be a high validity. The data analysis technique used are Product Moment Correlation and Mann-Whitney U Test. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that : 1) there is a significant positive relationship between religiosity and self-adjustment which is obtained from the results of data analysis of the religiosity variable with self adjustment coefficient (rxy) of 0.447 and sig. (p) of 0.000 (p < 0.05), which indicates that there is a significant relationship between religiosity and self-adjustment, 2) there is no difference in self-adjustment seen from gender obtained from data analysis for the adjustment variable seen from U Test value of 15283.500 and asymp. Sig. (2 tailed) obtained for 0,125 ( p > 0,05), which means there is no significant difference in self-adjustment seen from gender, and 3) in the correlation between religiosity and self-adjustment, indicating that female students are higher than male (The mean rank for women is 191.45 and for men is 176.50). These results indicate that female students use more religiosity in adjusting than male students. The empirical average for religiosity was moderate and the empirical average for self-adjustment was moderate. Effective contributions to the relationship between religiosity with self-adjustment based on a coefficient of R2 = 20,0 %.
