Abstract

One of the obligations in terms of household is the provision of a living. The husband who is responsible for his wife and children is usually responsible for providing support.The dual role of the wife is one of the efforts to ease the burden on the husband infulfilling his living so that there are no cracks in the household. In this research, the focus of the problem is the factors behind the wife's dual role as housewives and breadwinners in the family, then what is the view of the Marriage Law and KHI. This research was conducted using field research methods, namely research activities carried out in the community in Baturetno Village. Collecting data here is obtained by using a case study in a village using the interview method conducted with wives who work to earn a living in the family. The results showed the existence that the dual role of women merely wanted to relieve the burden of a husband. Although the obligation to earn a living should be in a husband, of course, as an obedient wife, she must always help a husband no matter what the situation is. Thus harmony and relationships in the household are maintained and are harmonious and peaceful. A wife is allowed to work as long as she has the blessing of a husband and what she is doing is not a job that violates Islamic law and of course does not forget her function as a housewife.
