Abstract
Klayar beach is one of the beaches in Donorojo District that is never empty of visitors, it can be ascertained that almost every year the number of visitors to Klayar beach always increases. This makes the surrounding community change professions to become traders or other businesses. The existence of a large number of traders, erratic selling times, and the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic are serious problems for traders. So that it resulted in an impact on the socio-economic conditions of traders. Research with the title of “The Impact of Covid-19 on The Social Economic Conditions of Trades in The Coastal Area of Klayar, Donorojo Sub-District, Pacitan District in 2020” has the following research objectives are 1. To examine the socio-economic characteristics of traders in the Klayar coastal area, 2. To study the social and economic impacts of traders from the covid-19 outbreak in 2020, 3. To examine the efforts of traders to face trade barriers, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research method uses a survey method with a questionnaire as an interview tool. The population of traders on Klayar beach is 137 divided into 3 categories, namely food, clothing and accessories traders. Then from the large number of population, the research sample was taken using the proportional sampling method, which divided 20% of the number of food traders from 90 to 18 people, clothing traders from the initial number of 24 to 5 people and accessories traders from the initial number of 23 to 5 people. The research data collection was taken primary and secondary. Primary data from observations and interviews in the field and secondary data from the tourism office. The data analysis method used is descriptive quantitative analysis and spatial process analysis. The results in this study are characteristics of socio-economic conditions based on age, education level, income and expenditure. The positive social impact felt by traders on the existence of Covid-19 is the return of traditions in almost extinct communities, having more time with family, the emergence of a sense of mutual cooperation, and the negative impact is the occurrence of unemployment. Meanwhile, there is no positive impact from an economic perspective and the negative impact on income has decreased. Traders' strategies in dealing with the Covid-19 problem are doing side or temporary jobs for the needs of life as long as they don't trade. The conclusion of this study shows that traders in the Klayar beach area can still pay for their daily needs even without working, by relying on their savings. And the emergence of Covid-19 actually makes close relations between people.
