Abstract
River morphology can change by following natural characteristics which are important factors in the process of river reformation. The eruption of Mount Merapi is one of the main factors in the process of forming rivers due to the volcanic and fluvial processes. The Woro River, which is located on the slopes of the volcano, Kemalang District, Klaten Regency, is one of the rivers affected by Merapi Erruption. This study uses a spatial model, namely by overlaying the results of river digitization from Cira GeoEye in 2008 and 2020. The objectives of this study are (1) to determine change the morphology of the Woro River from 2008-2020. (2) to analyze the factors that support / play a role in changes in the morphology of the Woro River. The method in this research is the survey method by using a sample in areas that have changed their morphology. The results of this study indicate that (1) Changes in the morphology of the Woro River from 2008-2020 occurred in the upstream and middle parts with erosion and deposition, while for the downstream part there was no tendency to change, the total area of erosion area was 114,557 m2 and the area that experienced deposition was 269,878 m2. (2) Changes in the morphology of the Woro River are caused by several factors that encourage changes, namely natural and human factors, natural factors that occur in the form of volcanic eruptions, cold lava floods, landslides on river cliffs, erosion and deposition, while for the human factor that plays a role, namely the existence of sand mining which is carried out along the river flow and riverbanks as well as the use of land as a sabo dam in several locations.
