Abstract
Paving blocks are an innovation from the development of concrete for road pavement, and along with the development of the times, many new innovations have emerged in the development of making paving blocks. In this study, innovations in the method of pressing with pyramid pressure plates and the use of tile powder additives. The method of pressing the pyramid pressure plate aims to provide compressive force not only horizontally but also vertically, and the use of tile powder waste added material to get the quality of paving blocks that are in accordance with standards and utilize waste optimally. In this study, the proportion of cement compared to the sand used was 1: 6 with the addition of tile powder of 0%, 0.25%, 0.50%, and 0.75% in order to find the ratio of compressive strength, flexural strength, water absorption. , and strong shock. After the research was held, the optimum compressive strength test results were 28.64 MPa which was the result of applying the pyramid pressure plate pressing method with the addition of 0.50% tile powder, but for the water absorption test, the normal method was applied with the addition of 0% tile powder, obtain the most optimum results with a maximum absorption of 3.31%. For the shock strength test results using the pyramid pressure plate pressing method, and tile powder has a greater potential energy value than normal paving blocks with an optimum potential energy of 110.36 Joules. And for testing the flexural strength of paving blocks, the application of the pressure plate and tile powder pressing method obtained better flexural strength than the use of normal paving blocks with the optimum flexural strength of 11.35 MPa.
