Abstract

Tofu is one of the favorite foods of the Indonesian people. The process of making tofu produces a lot of liquid waste. Tofu liquid waste contains BOD levels of 5000-10000 mg / lt. Based on the Central Java Regional Regulation No. 5 of 2012, the BOD content of tofu industrial waste water which can be discharged in the river is 150 mg/l. The purpose of this literature review is to examine the reduction in BOD levels in tofu liquid waste using natural methods. The method used in this study is the Literature Review. The results of the studies that have been carried out are that all journals show that waste treatment to reduce BOD levels in tofu liquid waste using natural methods without using chemicals can reduce BOD levels in accordance with established quality standards. Therefore, several methods and natural materials that have been researched and are able to reduce BOD levels in tofu waste can be applied to tofu producers in the processing of their waste using easy and inexpensive methods. So that it can reduce environmental pollution caused by tofu waste.
