Abstract
Trade is a channel to distribute goods, this distribution which then creates a trading network, in this case the vegetable trade network. Knowing this vegetable merchant network aims to facilitate distribution to surrounding areas. This research examines the vegetable trade network at Plaosan Market, Magetan. The purpose of this research is to examine the characteristics of traders in the Plaosan Magetan Market, to study the existing trade networks in the Plaosan Magetan Market and to analyze the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on the vegetable trade in the Plaosan Market. The research method is census with descriptive analysis. The results of the study stated that the characteristics of the most Plaosan Market Vegetable Traders were female, namely 77.29%, most traders were in the age range 46-55 as much as 45.71% with the oldest 67 years old and the youngest 34 years old. SMA as much as 77.14%, the highest number of dependents of merchant families has 5-7 people, namely 77.14%, most traders come from locations in the same sub-district with the Plaosan market which is 68.57%, as for the traders selling at Plaosan Market because strategic location, high trade opportunities and some are due to hereditary business. The vegetable trade network in Plaosan Market is divided into direct farmers selling to Plaosan Market collectors or collectors taking from other regional collectors who sell to Plaosan Market. Traders get vegetables from farmers who come directly to Plaosan Market or through collectors who have taken farmers' crops. Vegetables that come from within the Plaosan area include mustard greens, carrots, cabbage, eggplant, potatoes, tomatoes and chilies. These vegetables are sold by collectors to retail traders in Plaosan Market, then by retailers they are sold directly to consumers or to mobile vegetable vendors. There are also collectors who sell vegetables outside the Plaosan area, including Madiun, Ponorogo, Pacitan and Ngawi. The impact of Covid-19 felt by vegetable traders at Plaosan Market, among others, if previously the Ramar market was now the market was quiet so that buyers were reduced, the supply of vegetables from outside the area was reduced and shipments out of town were reduced.
