Abstract

At the present time, universities in Indonesia are starting to attract many foreign students or international students to continue their education. However, an international student must be able to deal with all problems in their new environment, including one that is able to adjust academic challenges, or commonly named academic adjustments. The purpose of this study is to test the relationship between self efficacy and academic adjustment in international students. The subjects in this study were international students of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta which numbered 57 people. The sampling techniques using random sampling. The data collection tools used in this study are selfefficacy scale and academic adjustment. Data analysis to test the hypothesis used is a product moment correlation technique. Based on data analysis between self efficacy variables and academic adjustments obtained coefficient (rxy) values of 0.311 and sig. (p) of 0.018 (p <0.05), indicating there is a significant link between self-efficacy and academic adjustment in international students. The value of correlation coefficient is positive which means the higher self efficacy, the academic adjustment of international students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta is increasing.
