Abstract
The process of making brick products at PB Tarjo consists of 4 work stations, namely: (1) Stirring, (2) Milling and cutting, (3) Pressing, and (4) Burning. Most of the work is still done manually which can cause workers to experience musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The purpose of this study was to determine the production activities that can cause muscle injury for workers. The methods used are the Workplace Ergonomic Risk Assessment (WERA) and the Key Indicator Method (KIM). The steps of the WERA method are: (1) Identifying the factors of posture, repetition, lifting weights, vibrations, stress contact, and working duration, (2) Calculating the final score, and (3) Determining the level of action. The steps of the KIM method are: (1) Identifying the factors of duration of work, exertion of strength, holding conditions, hand position, work organization, working conditions and work posture, (2) calculating the final score, and (3) determining the level of risk. The results obtained are based on the WERA method, namely all work activities have a moderate level of risk. The calculation results of the KIM method show that 6 activities have an increased risk level and 4 activities have a high risk level. The result of the research is to provide recommendations for improvements to 4 activities that have a high risk level, namely the addition of tools and redesign of brick carts. From all the proposed improvements made, it can reduce the risk of injury score by 50%.
