Abstract
A hospital as a health service facility, a gathering place for sick and healthy people, or can be a place for disease transmission and allows vector-borne diseases to occur, so that the hospital must be free from disease vectors and its presence is no longer at risk as disease transmission and needs to organize a healthy home environment sick in accordance with health requirements. There is still limited research on disease vectors and nuisance animals in hospitals, so the authors are interested in conducting research on the Description of the Existence of Disease Vectors and Nuisance Animals in the Nutrition Installation Section and Ward Type C Hospital in Surakarta City. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence and density of disease vectors as well as the factors that support the presence of nuisance vectors and animals in the hospital. The method used by the writer is descriptive quantitative method by means of observation and interviews. The research was conducted from February to March 2020 in the Nutrition Installation and Inpatient Ward of the Surakarta Type C Hospital, including the Surakarta Hospital, Bung Karno Hospital and the UMS Soelastri Hospital. The variables examined in this study were the density of flies, cockroaches, mice and mosquitoes. The results showed that the vector density of flies and cockroaches from the three hospitals was in the low category. The density of rats in the Nutrition Installation of the Surakarta Hospital is in the high category, namely 25% with 1 type of rat found in the nutrition installation section. For the density of mosquitoes in the Inpatient Ward of RSUD Surakarta and RSUD Bung Karno is in the high category, while the density of mosquitoes in the Inpatient Ward of RSGM Soelastri UMS is in the low category. Broadly speaking, the 3 hospitals have carried out efforts to control disease vectors and nuisance animals, however they have not been routinely carried out at least once a month. Hospitals need to carry out routine checks at least once a month or according to vector density in each place where disease vectors are breeding and breeding because they can cause disease transmission that is more risky.
