Abstract

Breast milk is the most important source of energy and nutrition for babies. The existence of protective factors and appropriate nutrients in breast milk ensures a good nutritional status of the baby so that it can reduce infant morbidity and mortality. The process of breastfeeding is a crucial period for postpartum mothers. The importance of family support is one of the success factors of exclusive breastfeeding. The purpose of this literature review is to examine the relationship between family support and the success of exclusive breastfeeding. The method used in this research is Literature Review. The results of the studies that have been conducted show that there is a relationship between family support and the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Family support is very influential on the attitudes and behavior of the mother which will determine the success of exclusive breastfeeding, and the emotional condition of the mother will also affect the production of breast milk indirectly. Therefore, the importance of the role of the family in providing support to mothers can be in the form of instrumental support, information, emotion and appreciation.
