Abstract
Pollution is the entry of living things, substances, energy, and / or other components into the environment by human activities intentionally or not, so that it exceeds environmental quality standards. Apart from damaging the environment, pollution also disturbs the comfort of the community which causes people to have to adapt. This also happened in the TPA Putri Cempo area of Surakarta City. Pollution that occurs in the Putri Cempo TPA area is in the form of air pollution, noise pollution, and water pollution. The objectives of this study are: (1) To analyze the level of pollution caused by TPA Putri Cempo to the surrounding community. (2) Assessing the adaptation of the population to environmental pollution by TPA Putri Cempo. The method used is a survey method and interviews using a questionnaire. the number of respondents was determined using a proportional stratified area sampling. The analysis used is spatial analysis for the pollution level map, descriptive analysis for the form of adaptation, and ecological analysis for the relationship between pollution levels and adaptation that is formed. The results of the study indicate that: (1) Environmental pollution by TPA Putri Cempo is in the form of sound pollution, air pollution, and surface water pollution. The level of sound pollution is felt by people whose roads in front of their houses are used as access for garbage trucks. The level of air pollution by TPA Putri Cempo, the closer the residents' houses are to the Putri Cempo TPA, the more intense the unpleasant smell is, but not in certain areas such as those passed by garbage trucks and the southern part of the TPA. leachate that is channeled into tributaries. However, groundwater conditions in the Putri Cempo TPA area are good and moderate. (2) Communities close doors and vents to reduce air and sound pollution levels, carry out mutual cooperation to clean rivers to reduce the level of surface water disturbances. Economic adaptation is carried out by people who are in the 250 meter strata by working at the Putri Cempo TPA as scavengers or collectors.
