Abstract

This study aimed to describe: (1) The policy of SD Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta in improving the quality of schools, (2) The PPDB strategy in SD Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta in improving the quality of schools, and (3) The impacts of the PPDB strategy on improving quality of schools in SD Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta.This type of qualitative research used an ethnographic design. This study aimed to obtain in-depth data which refer to meaningful data. Meaning is actual data, definite data and is a value behind the visible data (Sutama, 2019: 95). The research subjects included the principal, the head of PPDB, teachers and staff of the PPDB SD Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta committee. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data was obtained by triangulation of sources and methods. The data analysis technique used the flow method.The results of this study indicated that: (1) The policy of SD Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta in improving the quality of schools were implemented through improving the quality of education personnel, educators and students, managing learning activities, curriculum innovation, cooperation with parents and school committees, improving facilities and infrastructure, as well as the implementation of the PPDB datum strategy; (2) PPDB strategies in SD Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta in improving the quality of schools were conducted by intensifying promotions, implementing different strategies in each PPDB, opening new programs, observing prospective students and parents; (3) The impacts that occurred from the PPDB strategy on improving the quality of schools in SD Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta included the level of community trust was getting higher, the learning process of new students ran smoothly, the teacher found it easy to manage the class, the output results of graduates were very satisfying, and the achievement was increasing in many different fields. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the PPDB strategy implemented in SD Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta could improve the quality of schools. Keywords: School Quality, Strategy, PPDB
