Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by the inability of the body to metabolize carbohydrates, fats and proteins, causing hyperglycemia (increased blood sugar levels). Diabetes mellitus type 2 can affect all aspects of the life of the sufferer so that it can be life threatening if it is not treated immediately and properly controlled. These problems can be minimized by managing DM, namely by doing self care. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of implementation of outpatient self-care care for Diabetes Mellitus type 2 in the Banyuanyar Community Health Center. This type of research is analytic observational using a cross-sectional approach. The method in this research is descriptive observation using the SDSCA (Summary Diabetes Self Care Activities) questionnaire. The technique used was random sampling with the sample used was outpatient type 2 DM at Banyuanyar Health Center. The results of the study of the relationship between knowledge about self-care and the level of implementation of self-care in type 2 DM patients in the Banyuanyar Community Health Center work area, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and the level of implementation of self care.
