Abstract
This study aims to examine the relationship between empathy and student aggressiveness at school. In this study, empathy is an internal factor that can influence students in engaging in aggressive behavior. To reduce student activities at school, high empathy is needed to create a positive school environment. The research method is quantitative research with an empathy scale measuring instrument and a scale of aggressiveness with the help of googleform. The subjects of this study were 124 students of junior high school grades VII, VIII, IX throughout Karisidenan Surakarta. The sampling technique used probability random sampling. The data analysis technique of this research is product moment analysis. Data analysis was performed using Pearson's parametric correlation analysis with the help of SPSS for windows version 16.0. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be seen that: there is a negative relationship between empathy and student aggressiveness in school, seen from the value (rxy) of -0.467 and (p) of 0.000 (p <0.05). This means that there is a significant negative relationship between empathy and student aggressiveness at school. It can be seen that the higher the empathy for students, the lower the aggressiveness of students in schools, the higher the aggressiveness, the lower the empathy for students.
