Abstract

The polemic between PB Djarum and the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) is an interesting matter to be reported by the mass media, one of which is Jawa Pos. This polemic originated from the accusation by KPAI to PB Djarum that child exploitation of young athlete candidates in the 2019 Badminton Scholarship Djarum General Audition. This polemic lasted for two weeks, from 7 September 2019 to 20 September 2019. This research aims to see how the Jawa Pos media frame the coverage of the Polemic between PB Djarum and KPAI. This study uses a qualitative method. Data collection techniques using documentation. The framing analysis used is the Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki model, about four framing structures, namely syntax (news compilation), script (5W + 1H news completeness), thematic (how facts are written), and rhetorical (fact emphasis) contained in news text. The results of this study indicate that the Jawa Pos framing shows the construction of the news of the events that took place, in other words the framing that is highlighted by Jawa Pos can describe how the polemic is going.
