Abstract
Echinacea purpurea (L.)Moench is a medical potent plant from family Asteraceae. The main biologically active metabolite content is chicoric acid. The content of chicoric acid in E. purpurea are depended on climate change, cultivation, plant age, harvest time, growth, drying process, storage and extraction method. This study aimed to isolat, identify, and determine chicoric acid from its main plant E. purpurea (L.) Moench. The chicoric acid of this study were obtained from extraction, fractionation, and purification process. The analysis were conducted by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). The results of identification of cycoric acid using TLC and High Performance Liquid Chromatography showed rf value of 0.75 and a retention time value of 1.6 minutes, while the cycoric acid levels of Echinaceae purpurea were obtained from donations from PT. Yarindo Farmatama ranged from 1.19 mg / g - 1.28 mg / g. The result showed that chicoric acid from E. purpurea that obtained from PT. Yarindo Farmatama was 1.22 mg/g. The IC50 of cytotoxicity assay of chicoric acid was 39112,38 µg/ml.
